Emirates has revealed the first of 40 aircraft in its fleet to be emblazoned with a new design dedicated to Expo2020 Dubai.

The new design is fitted on an Emirates Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, at the airline's engineering hangar. It is based on the Expo 2020 logo inspired by an ancient gold ring excavated in Dubai.

The move is aimed at highlighting Emirates’ support for the vision of Expo 2020 Dubai, for which is it the official airline partner.

Emirates will be introducing two more designs dedicated to the other themes of Expo 2020 such as opportunity, mobility and sustainability.

The theme of the first design is ‘mobility,’ which also relates to Emirates’ role as an airline that connects over 150 destinations in 84 countries to, from, and via its hub in Dubai.

The main theme of Expo 2020 Dubai revolves around ‘Connecting Minds, Creating the Future’.

Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, chairman and chief executive at Emirates Airline and Group said Emirates is gearing up for Expo2020 by championing the vision of ‘Connecting Minds and Creating the Future’ through the new decals installed on the aircraft.

Reem Al Hashimy, UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation and Director General Expo 2020 Dubai Bureau said Emirates is playing an important role in helping Dubai accomplish its Expo 2020 vision by carrying its logo across the world on its aircrafts.

Emirates also stated all its aircrafts will carry a new Expo 2020 nose decal until the end of the event.

Over the years, the Emirates Aircraft Appearance Centre has installed a number of eye-catching designs on aircrafts, including the ‘United for Wildlife’ decal, as well as a number of customised designs celebrating Emirates’ football partnerships.
