The Shuaiba oil refinery in Kuwait is currently operating at 150,000 barrels per day capacity, a Kuwaiti industry source said on Monday, after a fire at a heavy oil unit forced a total shutdown last month.
The fire at the heavy oil cracking unit at Kuwait’s 200,000 barrel-per-day Shuaiba refinery broke out on Aug. 17. The plant was restarted on Aug. 22.
OPEC member Kuwait has three refineries, including Shuaiba, with a combined capacity of 930,000 bpd.
