Saudi’s Shoura Council has called for a new report to investigate levels of corruption in the kingdom, it was reported.
The council on Tuesday urged anti-corruption commission, Nazaha, to include the issue in its next report, saying it should also work to quickly finalise rules and regulations covering the “protection of honesty and combating corruption”, the Saudi Gazette reported.
The Nazaha was also asked to move to amend its regulations to publish the names of people who were found guilty in corruption cases.
The council said it should work with relevant government agencies to provide training programs for government employees on combating corruption.
“The council stressed that the training program shall be linked to the appointment of new government employees,” the Gazette report said.
During debate, members of the Council reportedly called for the establishment of female divisions at Nazaha headquarters and branch offices.
It was also urged to fast-track investigations and corruption case trials.
