Abu Dhabi Police have warned motorists of fines, penalties and consequences of distractions while driving.

In posts shared on social media, police showed video of three major accidents on roads in the emirate as a result of drivers being distracted.

The three separate incidents were recorded on CCTV cameras and show multiple vehicle pile-ups, crashes and major vehicle damage and explosions.

In the social media post, below, Police warned motorists of the danger of using phones to make calls, browse social media or take photos while driving.

Abu Dhabi Police said motorists could be fined AED800 and handed four traffic penalty points for driving with distractions.

The Directorate of Traffic and Patrols urged drivers to “commit to traffic safety rules” by not engaging while driving to avoid sudden stopping of vehicles without warning on the roads and during the flow of traffic on internal and external roads and always pay attention to road surprises.
