Al-Futtaim launches the Toshiba Libretto U100

New mini-notebook heralds powerful and reliable portability, as Al-Futtaim Technologies highlights the U100’s versatility and durability at Gitex 2005

Toshiba, the technology brand exclusively distributed by Al-Futtaim Techno-logies in the UAE, has launched the libretto U100, the company’s first ultra-portable mini-notebook PC.

The libretto U100, weighing less than 1000g, offers mobile professionals unrivalled security, reliability and connectivity through Toshiba’s EasyGuard technology. The compact, lightweight mini-notebook is being displayed at the Al Futtaim stand.

“Toshiba has incessantly worked towards leading the market with its innovative products, and we at Al-Futtaim Technologies aim at bringing those technological advancements to this region,” says R. Muralidharan, general manager, Al-Futtaim Technologies.

“The libretto U100 is a product that adds to Toshiba’s pioneering portfolio offering consumers top-quality features with high portability on account of its compact size. It is a must-have for executives on the move.”

The lightweight libretto U100 delivers a four-and-a-half hour battery life and has an optional battery providing power for up to nine hours.

With a fingerprint reader, the libretto U100 is designed to simplify user access and protect against unauthorised access to data held on the notebook through biometric authentication. In addition, built with Toshiba’s hard disk drive protection with 3D accelerometer, a technology that can detect the device’s movement, the mini-notebook has the ability to withstand unexpected impact, shock and vibration, helping to prevent damage to, or loss of, data.

Al-Futtaim Technologies has been part of Gitex for the last five years and by participating this year, it is seeking to enhance its presence in line with the expanded ICT offering of the company.

“We are exhibiting leading edge solutions in telecom space comprising of both enterprise communication solutions as well carrier communication solutions,” says Muralidharan.“The enterprise solutions are primarily built around the concept of user-centric communications and will exhibit unified communication, IT telephony and voice over wireless LAN. On the carrier front, we will showcase the latest triple play solution along with latest innovations such as IPTV.

This year, Al-Futtaim is sharing its platform with Alcatel.
