BenQ touts super slim snappers

BenQ has pumped up its digital camera range with the launch of two ultra-slim models.

“The digital imaging market is constantly evolving as new camera technology, designs and features are introduced on an almost weekly basis,” said Manish Bakshi, general manager, BenQ Middle East. “BenQ has responded to this challenge by launching a new range that will meet the needs of every user, from the first time novice photographer to those wanting advanced features and functionality.”

BenQ’s new E53 camera measures just 2.4 centimeters from front to back, but still manages to pack in a 3x optical/3.6x digital combined zoom lens and five megapixel CCDs. Aimed firmly at the mid-market, the device is housed in aluminum alloy casing and is roughly the same overall size as a compact mobile phone. It offers users a picture resolution of 2560 x 1536pixels, comes with a 32MB SD memory card as standard, and BenQ claims its lithium-ion battery can last users at least 370 photos before requiring a recharge.

Incorporating the same 2.5-inch LTPS LCD screen, BenQ’s super-compact E30 meanwhile is slightly bigger than a business card and delivers a resolution of three megapixels. It also supports video recording; letting users shoot as much footage as their memory cards can hold.

BenQ’s new E30 camera retails for $89, while the higher spec E53 is priced $299.
