Dubai Police’s fleet of supercars already includes cars from Lamborghini, Aston Martin, Bugatti, Ferrari, Bentley, Porsche, McLaren and more high-spec supercars.

Now it is set to add one of the world’s most advanced security vehicles, from Dubai-based luxury car manufacturer W Motors.

A new edition of the Ghiath supertruck has been custom-built for the Dubai SWAT team and comes with built-in weapons holders, smoke launchers and built-in tracking computers.

The Ghiath is made by the Middle East’s first luxury car maker, W Motors and was unveiled by Dubai Police at the Global Police Summit at the World Trade Centre.

The Ghiath truck represents a turning point in tactical response vehicles by manufacturer of high-performance luxury sports cars in the Middle East.

Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, praised the constructive partnership and cooperation with W Motors, which resulted in the innovation of the Ghiath Smart Patrol, one of the most advanced security vehicles in the world.

Al-Marri stressed that Dubai Police is keen to achieve leadership among the police agencies in the world, by providing its work system with the latest technologies and advanced equipment that contribute to enhancing the safety and security of community members, indicating that the partnership with W Motors contributed to strengthening the force fleet with patrols.

Smart Ghiath trucks are equipped with the latest technology and designed with weapons holders and mobile tracking to achieve optimal security performance in its police and security operations.

Major General Abdullah Ali Al Ghaithi, Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Operations Affairs at Dubai Police, stated: “We are pleased that the Ghiath patrol, with its new SWAT version has joined the Dubai Police fleet, which will enhance the tactical response capabilities of the Dubai Police security patrols.

“It is very important to provide the appropriate tools, including advanced vehicles, and to equip its cadres with the latest technologies to efficiently deal with any security event with greater speed and accuracy.”

W Motors Founder and CEO, Ralph Debbas, said: “The second model of the Ghiath, which was proudly designed, developed and manufactured in our own Dubai Silicon Oasis centre, rolling off the production line just one year after the launch of Ghiath Smart Patrol, shows our commitment to accelerating the future of high-performance security vehicles, in partnership with Dubai Police.

“The latest addition to the Ghiath range marks the beginning of an expansion program, which will see the addition of more advanced technology and smart models in terms of enhanced solutions.”

The Ghiath SWAT is a special purpose vehicle that meets the industry’s highest standards for tactical response and was designed, engineered, developed and manufactured by W Motors in response to the stringent requirements of the SWAT Operations Team.

The vehicle’s rugged design is solidly supported by a custom-developed, high-performance suspension system, to increase payload as well as the ability to effortlessly handle multi-terrain environments.

The vehicle is complemented by a wide range of next-generation technology capabilities designed to support mission safety, security and success.

Custom features of the SWAT vehicle include

  • Front-bolstered roll bar
  • Tactical side and rear steps
  • Weapon and ammunition storage systems
  • Police equipment store
  • Crowd dispersal smoke system

In addition to two military-grade infrared LED illumination systems for night vision command and control there is also a discreet infrared tracking light and two rear-mounted side capsules, powered by high-intensity LED light.

The supertruck also has nine surveillance cameras with built-in number plate recognition capabilities.

The interiors come with facial recognition technology, driver-activated security cameras, deployed GPS tracking, instant call to the control centre, two removable military-grade rear seat-mounted Android devices and four charging docks designed for police body cameras. 

Reports in local media said thirty per cent of the car’s interior and exterior are 3D-printed.
