Non-oil foreign trade between the UAE and Kuwait reached AED43bn ($11.8bn) by the end of 2022, according to preliminary data issued by the Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Centre (FCSC).
It is an increase of 87 per cent, compared to AED23.3bn ($6.3bn) in 2013.
The FCSC data showed that the total trade between the two countries during 2013-2022 amounted to AED316.2bn ($86bn), of which re-exports constituted 53 percent and valued at more than AED168bn ($45.7bn), non-oil exports represented 27 percent and worth more than AED85bn ($23.1bn), and imports were 20 percent, to the tune of AED62.8 billion ($17.1bn).
UAE-Kuwait trade
Non-oil trade between the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait grew 13 percent, worth AED5bn ($1.4bn) last year, to reach AED43.5bn ($11.8bn), compared to AED38.5bn ($10.5bn) in 2021.
Of the non-oil trade between the two countries during the previous year, re-exports were valued at AED21.9bn, non-oil exports AED14.2bn, and imports AED7.3bn.
Mineral oils topped the list of the top five commodities imported from Kuwait to the UAE during 2022, worth more than AED6bn; while raw gold topped the list of the top five commodities exported from the UAE to Kuwait, value at AED3.3bn, followed by jewellery worth AED3bn.
Communications equipment topped the list of top 5 commodities that were re-exported from the UAE to Kuwait during 2022, valued at AED3.52bn, followed by medicines and treatment drugs to the tune of AED1.7bn, and data processing machines worth AED1.46bn.
