Over 13 million people have watched Mariah Carey’s spin on her classic “All I want for Christmas is you” on You Tube – but few people know the best-selling female artist of all time was dressed by a Dubai designer.
The queen of Christmas songs shines in a sparkly pine green-coloured scooped neck, fully embedded sequined long sleeved cocktail dress, courtesy of the UAE’s fastest rising designer to the stars Alina Anwar.
As seen on the official behind the scenes video, Carey poses in the camera for her official portraits for the special project.
Founder of Alina Anwar Couture, Anwar has been dressing regional celebrities from Bollywood and Hollywood such as Kareena Kapoor, Jacqueline Fernandez, Bhumi Pednekar, Janhvi Kapoor, Malaika Arora, Yami Gautam, Sheheryar Munawar, Roslyn Sanchez, Jenna Dewan, to name just a few.
She said: “I hope to see more and more Hollywood stars to wear my brand and as a Dubai-based fashion label, I am so overwhelmed by the trust that they are giving me. I am here to advocate UAE made products are world-class.”
The video is complete with ice skating Santas and Carey in her own version of a Santa suit.
“We wanted to make a modern classic,” Carey said during a YouTube livestream for the video’s debut. “It’s kind of the opposite of the original video. This is more of a production.”
The single, which first premiered in 1994, just hit number one for the first time on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
