Dubai Police's Skill: Resolving Unsolved Traffic Incidents

Those found fleeing the scene of an accident, would face legal consequences, including an AED20,000 fine or jail time.

According to Article 49, Clause 5 of the Federal Law on Traffic, individuals failing to stop at an accident they caused or were involved in, resulting in injuries, can now face both jail time and hefty fines.

The Dubai Police’s accident investigation experts are equipped with cutting-edge technology to identify accident causes and track down offenders.

The Traffic Accident Investigation Department at the Dubai Police General Headquarters employs highly-trained detectives who meticulously uncover the root causes of accidents, irrespective of whether they are due to natural occurrences or criminal behavior.

Anonymous reports are pursued relentlessly to pinpoint wrongdoers and take appropriate legal action against them.

Dubai Police: Remarkable success in solving traffic cases

Bur Dubai Police Station’s traffic accident investigators have displayed remarkable prowess, successfully resolving previously unsolved traffic cases.

This achievement owes itself to the collaboration with key agencies, such as the General Directorate of Criminal Investigations, General Directorate of Traffic, General Department of Operations, General Department of Forensic Evidence and Criminology, and partners from the Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai.

These efforts are aligned with the vision of Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, and the oversight of Major General Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Criminal Investigation Affairs.

Brigadier Abdullah Khadem Sorour, Director of Bur Dubai Police Station, emphasized their dedication to enhancing security and safety in the region, aiming for a significant reduction in traffic accidents with zero fatalities per 100 inhabitants.

A milestone was achieved as the center boasted a 100 percent resolution rate for “unknown traffic accidents” in the past year.

This feat stems from highly trained personnel, AI methodologies, and modern technology. A specific case highlights their expertise: in a hit-and-run incident, a deceased driver’s identity was established through a seemingly inconspicuous paper found 70 meters away from the accident scene.

Captain Ahmed Khalfan bin Lahej, Head of the Traffic Registration Department at Bur Dubai Police Station, recounted cases that showcased their skills.

In one, meticulous investigation and sharp observation led to the identification of a driver who had borrowed a friend’s car. In another, forensic analysis and persistence led to the apprehension of a driver who had fled the scene.
