Dubai skies are expected to see yet another meteor shower. The Quadrantids meteor shower is usually active during the end of December into early January. Expected to peak between January 3-4, the meteor shower will only last for a few hours.

The Dubai Astronomy Group has announced a stargazing and Quadrantids meteor shower observation on January 3 from 11 PM to 4 AM, following the recent viewing that took place of the last meteor shower of 2022 for the Geminids Meteor Shower on December 14.

The Quadrantids meteor shower does not require any special equipment or skill to observe, a clear sky and no light obstruction enables clear viewing. Unlike other meteor showers that tend to peak for around two days, the Quadrantids only peaks for a few hours.

“This year, due to the almost full moon, the meteors are not expected to be as clear as on a moonless night which is why we’re calling it a stargazing event with the potential of seeing meteors,” the event website clarifies.
