UAE astronaut Sultan Al Neyadi, embarked on a 6-month space mission to the International Space Station on March 2. On Wednesday, the Crew-6 member shared a selfie from space. Following that, the astronaut released an astounding video of the space station and the views of the earth through the observatory.
“Sharing with you my first views of Earth from the Cupola Observational Module aboard the ISS. The further we journey from Earth, the more we realize just how precious it truly is. Let us cherish and preserve this incredible planet we call home,” the post read.
The mission represents a historic milestone for the UAE.
On Tuesday, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, held a live video call with Emirati astronaut Sultan Al Neyadi who is based in the International Space Station (ISS) for the next six months.
During his live call from to the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC), Sheikh Mohammed congratulated Al Neyadi on his safe arrival at the ISS.
He also commended the international accomplishments of the UAE and its citizens’ exceptional achievements.
Sheikh Mohammed noted that the ultimate aspiration began in the 1970s with Zayed’s dream and determination to explore space and etch the name of the UAE not only on earth, but also in the sky.
