Police in the UAE have announced a reduced speed limit on a key road will begin on November 1.

Abu Dhabi Police said the speed limit will be reduced to 80kmph on Sheik Khalid bin Sultan Street in Al Ain.

The Abu Dhabi Police General Command said the speed reduction will apply to traffic in both directions between Al Ghail Roundabout and Al Sarooj Roundabout.

The UAE has announced details on how to calculate gratuity and pensions in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and around the country.

The General Pension and Social Security Authority (GPSSA) explained ways by which insured individuals working in government and private sector entities can calculate their retirement pension and end-of-service gratuity as per the UAE Federal Pension and Social Security Law.

As an initial step, registered employees need to be aware of how their contribution salaries are calculated each month.

The UAE Government has granted approval for an electronic, free-of-charge Special Entry Permit for all UNFCCC-registered COP28 UAE event attendees, commonly known as the COP28 UAE Visa, as per information on the COP28 website.

Once UNFCCC registration is completed, attendees will receive a confirmation email with a link to apply for the COP28 UAE Visa.

This link will direct them to the visa portal, where they can complete the application form, upload the necessary documents, and await approval.

Dubai’s Wasl has set a new Guinness World Record for the highest running track on a building. Located atop Wasl1, the track is located on the 43rd floor of the building.

Named ‘Sky Track’ situated 157m high, the track provides views of the Burj Khalifa, Dubai Frame, Sheikh Zayed Road and surrounding areas.

Hesham Al Qassim, CEO of Wasl said: “We are delighted to achieve another Guinness World Records title for Dubai. We are humbled that Sky Track has achieved a world record, and happy that it will enhance residents’ daily lives.

UAE travel trends: Solo travel increasing in popularity, survey reveals

As travel trends resume with demand soaring to pre-pandemic levels, solo travel has emerged as a popular trend in the UAE, according to Hilton’s 2024 Trends Report. 75 percent of travellers in the country have embarked on solo trips in the past year.

The increase in preference for solo travel was primarily driven by factors including the desire to relax alone, seeking self-discovery, eagerness to focus on wellbeing and enjoyment.

Over half of the survey respondents in the UAE expressed the intention to post online at least once a day during while travelling as strong Wi-Fi emerges as a priority among room amenities, the survey reveals.
