The UAE has issued safety guidelines and celebrations rules ahead of National Day as it looks to ensure road safety and public order.
The Ministry of Interior has announced a comprehensive set of regulations governing celebrations and vehicle decorations for the UAE’s 54th National Day, emphasising that the rules are designed to protect public safety, ensure smooth traffic flow and prevent practices that could endanger lives or property.
Brigadier Engineer Hussein Ahmed Al Harthi, Chairman of the Federal Traffic Council at the Ministry of Interior, underscored the importance of celebrating the national occasion in a civilised manner that reflects the UAE’s values.

He called on the public to adhere to the laws, observe preventive measures and support efforts to maintain order on the roads.

The Ministry also prohibited overloading vehicles, passengers exiting through windows or sunroofs, and performing stunts or dangerous behaviour on internal and external roads.

Restrictions on stickers and vehicle modifications

The regulations also prohibit obscuring or covering licence plates, changing a vehicle’s colour and tinting or darkening the windshield.
Shops must comply; only UAE flags permitted
Decoration shops must follow the regulations and are prohibited from installing any stickers or flags except for the UAE flag or approved stickers.
Raising the flags of other countries during the celebration period is not allowed.
The Ministry affirmed that legal action will be taken against any vehicle violating the regulations, including issuing fines and impounding vehicles that fail to comply.
Responsible celebration
The Ministry of Interior urged the public to celebrate responsibly and respectfully, reflecting the UAE’s civilised image and its commitment to safety, order and mutual respect on the roads.
