UAE Federal Public Prosecution has referred nine Arab nationals to court after investigations revealed their involvement in forming an organised criminal gang that committed serious offences endangering state security, public order, and social peace.
A victim filed a report through the Public Prosecution’s digital platform “My Safe Society”, launching the case after he was kidnapped, indecently assaulted, and filmed while his hands were bound.
Under the directives of Dr. Hamad Saif Al Shamsi, UAE Attorney General, the Public Prosecution initiated an investigation, gathered evidence, and tasked the Federal Judicial Enforcement Office with carrying out inquiries to identify and apprehend the perpetrators.
The authorities also seized the tools used in committing the crimes.
Details of UAE investigation
Investigations revealed that the defendants lured the victim to one of their residences over a financial dispute.
They assaulted him, tied his hands, and detained him for a week, forcing him to sign debt instruments.
The gang filmed the victim naked and later disseminated the footage on social media to blackmail his family for money.
Authorities confiscated the vehicle and mobile phones used in committing the crime. The devices contained incriminating footage that confirmed the gang’s organised operations and the severity of the offences.

Charges and penalties
The defendants face charges punishable by death or life imprisonment, as their coordinated criminal activities constitute a direct threat to state security.
He reaffirmed the Public Prosecution’s commitment to enforcing the law impartially, protecting lives and property, and ensuring that anyone who threatens national security or social peace is brought to justice.
