Snapchat in the UAE has received a new feature – a ‘friendly’ AI chatbot. The feature is an experimental chatbot built with the latest ChatGPT and designed to be a ‘personal sidekick’.
The AI is available on a chat as a regular Snapchat user and opens up with a greeting saying, “Hi! I’m your new AI chatbot. You can ask me just about anything and I’ll do my best to help. I’m always here for a laugh, and you can give me a name if you’d like. Is there anything I can do for you today?”
The bot gets to know the user better over time as interactions increase and will provide more relevant responses.
Called ‘My AI’ by default, Snapchat allows users to personalise the bot’s name according to preference.
“You can give My AI a nickname and tell it about your likes (and dislikes!),” the article explains.
Since My AI is still in its early stages, there are chances that the bot may answer incorrectly, provide bias answers or be unsure.
“We’re working closely with Open AI to bring My AI to Snapchatters, built with the latest ChatGPT,” Snapchat says.
All interactions with My AI are stored until the user chooses to delete them.
