The UAE will test tsunami-warning systems as part of a major exercise across the Indian Ocean.

The international operation will focus on bolstering readiness within a simulated scenario to address potential tsunami threats stemming from earthquakes.

This exercise aims to test the early warning system for Indian Ocean tsunamis.

The authorities are committed to refining emergency responses through scientific planning and execution.

This exercise plays a pivotal role in the periodic review of the Indian Ocean tsunami warning system, ensuring timely warnings, increasing community awareness, and fostering regional cooperation.

It also involves evaluating system performance and making essential enhancements for sustained efficiency.

The Ministry of Interior, the National Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management Authority, and the National Centre of Meteorology, in partnership with UNESCO, are participating in the exercise, which will be held in the Rugaylat area in Fujairah on Wednesday, October 11th.

The exercise will see teams coordinate to run evacuation scenarios, vehicle mobilisation and more.
