The UAE is stimulating a crypto and blockchain ecosystem
MEBA is set to imprint itself on the UAE’s blockchain ecosystem precisely at a time when the UAE has strategised several measures to cement itself as a global leader on blockchain. Just some of these measures include developing financial free zones for crypto assets businesses to facilitating the process for licences related to crypto activities, and more. ADGM’s Financial Services Regulatory Authority developed a virtual asset framework for businesses, including brokers, custodians and exchanges for trading digital assets in 2018.

Also, Abu Dhabi is providing the blockchain sector with a sandbox approach, enabling products to be tested in a live environment to ensure UAE’s rigorous regulatory anti-money laundering laws are met. By stimulating investment of crypto to the UAE while fostering innovation at the local level in blockchain, the UAE is transforming into a globally recognised international hub for the technology. Some of the biggest players are setting up in the Middle East, including Binance, FTX, Kraken, Crypto.com and more.
