The growing popularity of World of Coffee Dubai 2024, which was held January 21-23 at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) in collaboration with Specialty Coffee Association, was highlighted once again as the number of visitors grew almost 30 percent from last year to slightly above 13,000.

The event was organised by DXB Live, the integrated event management and experiential agency of DWTC.

Khalid Al Hammadi, Senior Vice President of DXB LIVE, commented: “The latest edition of the World of Coffee Dubai 2024 exhibition has generated significant interest among stakeholders and enthusiasts in the coffee industry, drawing participation from international contributors, who showcased their products and equipment.

“This edition mainly focused on sustainability of the coffee industry while fostering coffee culture among consumers by providing educational platforms covering coffee varieties and preparation methods.

“The exhibition reflected a remarkable turnout, with visitors numbering nearly four times that of the inaugural edition of the event. Given the remarkable success achieved by this year’s edition, we are looking forward to organising the fourth edition of this event next year.”

National Barista Championship

The highlight of the event was the UAE National Barista Championship. The competition featured some of the most talented baristas in the country vying for the coveted title and the chance to represent the UAE at the World Barista Championship.

Michaela Rnazol from Typica Café, situated close to Kite Beach on Beach Road, secured the first place. Kemal Risyad from Archers Coffee in Sharjah, followed by Nooran Al Bannay from Coffee Architecture in Saadiyat Beach, Abu Dhabi, in third place.

There was also a competition for Latte Art, which was won by Mondrick Alpas from Gold Box Roastery, with Angelo Lagata from Number Five Gate in second place and Jatfikly Raymond Ampuan from DRVN by Porsche in third place.

The closing day featured three engaging seminars. Demian and Mergen of Abro led the first discussion, followed by Ben Hilt, AST Director at the Specialty Coffee Association, who explored the details of the New Specialty Coffee Association Skills Diploma. Andreas Zehnder then delivered a thought-provoking lecture on ‘The economics of coffee extraction plants: Analysing returns on sustainability investment’.

Over 1,650 exhibitors and brands from 51 countries participated in the 2024 edition of World of Coffee Dubai, over a space of 15,000 square meters. It brought together stakeholders from every facet of the coffee industry, including farmers, traders, manufacturers, distributors, small and medium-sized companies, café owners, baristas, hotels, and coffee enthusiasts.

The fourth edition of the World of Coffee exhibition will be held from February 10 to 12, next year.
