8 barbers to try in Dubai
Our selection of sophisticated spots would make style guru David Beckham proud

1. 1847: The best option for businessmen is 1847 because its barbershop focuses on executive grooming and offers treatments for older men such as hair and beard colouring. What white hairs? The male grooming lounge also offers facials, massages and manicures and pedicures. Prices start at AED55 for a traditional shave.

2. Jazz Lounge Spa: A fan of Jazz? Here’s a spa designed with the music genre in mind. The spa’s barbershop offers treatments that are not available at other outlets. These include everything from keratin to scalp treatments. This is not mentioning its spa menu, which offers anti-aging treatments such caviar facials. Prices start at AED75 for a haircut and blow dry. The spa is located in Umm Suqeim.

3. Akin Barber & Shop: A “concept store,” Akin is a barbershop and selective boutique which sells trendy t-shirts, bags and caps amongst other things. Located in Burj Al Salam on Sheikh Zayed Road, the barbershop specialises in modern haircuts. While it could be expensive for some – prices start at around AED165 for a haircut – it could be worth it to find your perfect new style.

4. Gents Mania: The founder of this salon had worked at 1847 before he got so many clients he had to open his own to accommodate them. Three years later, Gents Mania has two branches in Dubai’s top spots including DIFC and Al Barsha. It is best known for its service, which offers reservations on WhatsApp, and all-inclusive packages such as hair, beard, eyebrows and wash for just AED120.

5. Posh by Feryal: It doesn’t get posher than a haircut and shave at seven star hotel Burj Al Arab. And guess what? It will only cost you AED200 – for the haircut, that is. Posh by Feryal might be pricey, but sources tell us the results are worth it. The barbershop also has “posh” hair and beard products that are reportedly excellent.

6. Chaps and Co.: This is by far the coolest barbershop we have come across. Designed in all-brown and black furniture, the British-style venue is made for fans of traditional and old-school hipster styles. Think David Beckham: we’re talking masculine moustaches and beards and clean hairstyles. Chaps and Co is located in Jumeirah Lake Towers and offers spa services such as facials and massages. Prices start at AED35 for a shave and AED95 for a haircut.

7. Gentleman’s Tonic: The name itself makes us want to find out more about this venue. Located at the Atlantis Hotel in The Palm, Gentleman’s Tonic is a London-based brand that undoubtedly caters to the traditional man. However, it offers very luxurious treatments like its signature Royal Shave, which includes pre-shave oil application, a facial mask and post-shave acupressure massage designed to reduce pores. You guessed right, it will cost you – more than a haircut at the Burj Al Arab in fact. The Royal Shave is priced at AED310.

8. Urban Male Lounge: The Emirates Mall branch of this lounge’s barbershop is rumoured to have some of the best hairstylists in town. Haircuts done at the shop apparently last up to three weeks afterwards. The lounge in general is also known for its quick manicures and pedicures as well as its spa treatments such as facials and massages.
