Saudi Arabian Airlines (Saudia) transported more than two million passengers during Ramadan and Eid, the carrier’s director general told local media.

Khaled Almolhem said a total of 13,000 flights were carried out during the period to transport the large number of passengers, the Saudi Gazette reports on Monday.

“We had planned well for the work pressure during this period of time and succeeded in meeting the huge demand,” he was reported as saying.

“We have a number of consequent seasons that keep us busy throughout the year. School vacations, umrah and Ramadan seasons and hajj season have all made us ready along the year,” he was reported as saying.

Almolhem expects his company to transport over a million pilgrims during this year’s hajj.

Saudia is due to take delivery of 29 new planes by the year end, bdul Aziz Al-Hazmi, deputy director general told the paper.
