Dubai Courts has established its first inheritance department for non-Muslims, the official announcement was made on Monday.
The new department will enable the preparation and execution of wills under a standard legislative framework for non-Muslims with the application of their own laws.
The announcement read, “We are pleased to announce the establishment of the first inheritance department for non-Muslims and the implementation of their wills in Dubai Courts. Aligning with the significant development achieved by the Emirate of Dubai in respecting cultural diversity and our vision of establishing an integrated and advanced service system which meets the aspirations of the community.”
Last month, the Courts called on residents to update their Emirates ID details at the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs and Port Security.
This is to ensure the ease for authorities to reach the customer in the case of any legal proceedings in Dubai Courts.
