Dubai demolishes La Mer

The popular beach destination home to various restaurants, shops and entertainment spots is closing for a redevelopment project

Dubai’s popular beach destination, La Mer is being knocked down due to a redevelopment in the works, Time Out Dubai reported. The entire area in Jumeirah 1 is set to go through a rework for the first time since its opening in 2017.

La Mer housed multiple restaurants, attractions and hotels including Salt, Keventers, Falla, Aprons and Hammers, Rove Hotel and more.

The north side reportedly still has open venues; Al Shorea, Starbucks and FiLLi.

The redevelopment makes way for restaurants and beach clubs, yet to be revealed. The retail and dining spaces at La Mer Central near Laguna Waterpark still remain accessible.

Merex Investment, the company that owns and operates projects including La Mer, City Walk and The Beach JBR announced plans to relaunch La Mer under a revamped identity.
