Dubai’s Salik has issued a warning for all regarding the circulation of false messages, after UAE residents received a text message from an unknown number asking them to pay their ‘vehicle trip fee’.

In a Twitter post, the toll gate operator reminded residents “not to share personal or banking information with unreliable parties in order to avoid fraudulent activity.”

Messages regarding Salik payments are sent from the direct domain, which displays ‘SALIK’ as the sender, rather than a number.

Salik customers can make payments securely through the Smart Salik mobile app.
