Former UK Prime Minister David Cameron called the UAE “somewhere I always enjoy visiting” ahead of a visit to the nation for the Arabian Business Leadership Summit, taking place on June 21 in Dubai.

Cameron will join other major business and political leaders including Jerry Inzerillo, Group CEO, DGDA, James Hogan, Chairman of Knighthood Global Limited, and boxing legend Amir Khan, to discuss the challenges and experiences faced by modern day global leaders. Following the speech, Cameron will host a private lunch for business leaders.

Tickets to the event can be purchased here.

Cameron told Arabian Business: “I am delighted to be joining this year’s Arabian Business Leadership Summit in Dubai. Having served as Prime Minister of the UK for six years, and Leader of the Conservative Party – the oldest and most successful political party in the world – for over a decade, I understand well the incredible opportunities and challenges all leaders face.”

He added: “Indeed, the great uncertainty in the world at present means that risk and security – whether political, financial, national, corporate – loom large in the minds of those responsible for corporate governance and executive management. I very much look forward to sharing my own thoughts and experiences with business leaders from across the region in June, and to returning to the UAE – a country I have spent considerable time in before, including teaching at NYU Abu Dhabi earlier this year, and somewhere I always enjoy visiting.”

Cameron served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland from 2010 to 2016, leading Britain’s first Coalition Government in nearly 70 years and, at the 2015 General Election, forming the first majority Conservative Government in the UK for over two decades.

In doing so, he became the UK’s youngest Prime Minister since Lord Liverpool in 1812 and, in 2015, the first ever British Prime Minister to increase both his party’s share of the vote and their number of seats in the House of Commons, having already served a full term as premier.

Internationally, Cameron developed a foreign policy in the post-Iraq era that addressed the new challenges of the Arab Spring, as well as a more aggressive Russia, while ensuring that Britain played a full role in the global fight against ISIS. Under his leadership, Britain built a strong partnership with India and became China’s preferred partner in the West. Throughout his premiership, Cameron championed Britain’s special relationship with the US, working closely with President Barack Obama.

Other speakers will be confirmed in the coming weeks.
