Some parents in the UAE said education doesn’t adequately prepare their children for futuristic technologies such as artificial intelligence and virtual reality, a new survey showed.
The parents also said they believe these two technologies particularly will have the greatest impact on their children’s future, according to the UAE Future of Learning survey conducted by Citizens School Dubai.
The new study, which surveyed more than 1200 parents, found that resilience, inclusivity, and entrepreneurship rank lowest in the skills children are gaining from schools today.
“Fundamental to this is actively encouraging and promoting behaviours and qualities like resilience, inclusivity and entrepreneurship, which we know are important to a successful career and life progression,” Adil Al Zarooni (below), founder of Citizens School, said in a release.

The Dubai school earlier announced it was accepting cryptocurrency as a mode of tuition payment – on the back of growing mainstream adoption of digital currencies in the region.
“We believe empowering our students with the right choices is vital to enable them to emerge successful in the rapidly evolving world they are growing up in,” Citizens School’s chief executive officer Hisham Hodroge said.
He added: “Technologies like AR and VR need to be embraced in today’s education environment, allowing both children and parents to engage in open discussion about how these technologies will evolve and influence the future.”
