Around 91 percent of employees across the Middle East and North Africa region are considering changing jobs this year, according to a new survey by Bayt.com.

The survey, which polled more than 3,000 people, also showed that 86 percent of respondents expect to see more remote jobs in the next few years, with 83 percent saying they prefer companies that offer this setup.

“Flexibility is no longer viewed as an extra benefit, as demonstrated in the Modern Job Search Strategies in the MENA poll. In fact, flexibility is now a minimum requirement as job seekers look for their next career opportunity,” Ola Haddad, director of human resources at Bayt.com, said.

The survey comes as the UAE poses positive economic projections in the next few years, as it recovers from the blows of the Covid-19 pandemic.

According to the survey, the skills and traits companies look for in an employee have also changed – with adaptability as the top trait, followed by the ability to work without supervision.

Other important skills include familiarity with virtual work tools, communication, and self-motivation.
