The UAE has issued a stern condemnation of Israeli Minister of Heritage Amihai Eliyahu’s recent statements, expressing strong denunciation of his remarks regarding the dropping of a nuclear bomb on the Gaza Strip.
In an official statement, the UAE’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) categorically rejected the threat of using nuclear weapons and emphasised that the immediate priority should be to preserve the lives of civilians and provide them with essential humanitarian assistance.
The Ministry reiterated the urgent need for an immediate ceasefire to prevent further loss of life, underscoring the importance of safeguarding civilians in accordance with international law and international treaties.
It emphasised the imperative to ensure that civilians are not targeted during conflicts.
The Emirates called upon the international community to intensify its efforts in order to prevent any escalation of the situation in the Occupied Palestinian Territory.
It further urged the international community to advance comprehensive and peace initiatives, while preventing the region from being engulfed in heightened levels of violence, tension, and instability.
UAE President’s ‘Gallant Knight 3’ Humanitarian Mission
In response to the crisis, UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has ordered the Joint Operations Command of the Ministry of Defence to initiate a humanitarian operation named ‘Gallant Knight 3’, aimed at providing support to the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.
Sheikh Mohamed has instructed the Joint Operations Command to work closely with the Emirates Red Crescent, the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation, the Zayed Charitable Humanitarian Foundation, and other UAE institutions in delivering the necessary humanitarian aid to the Palestinians affected by the ongoing conflict.
Moreover, Sheikh Mohamed has directed the availability of volunteering opportunities for doctors registered with the Ministry of Health and Prevention, the Department of Health Abu Dhabi, as well as for volunteers registered with the Emirates Red Crescent and other humanitarian and charitable entities within the UAE.
