Shah Rukh Khan paid $4m for Burjeel Hospitals promo

Bollywood icon appointed as brand ambassador

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan is being paid around $4 million to star as the face of a new advertising campaigns for Burjeel Holdings, according to sources.

Burjeel Holdings operates 39 hospitals and medical centres across the region. The Abu Dhabi based company is currently going through an IPO that will see 11 percent of its equity sold – and valuing the group at around $3 billion.

The group was founded in 2007 by Dr Shamsheer Vayalil, who is also looking to enter Saudi Arabia with investments of up to $1 billion planned.

Khan was appointed last month as the company’s brand ambassador, saying at the time, “Healthcare is an industry we can all relate to and one we’ve all had experiences with. Visiting Burjeel Medical City and listening to Dr. Shamsheer Vayalil was both insightful and inspirational. Meeting employees and witnessing the immense passion and pride they have in their work was humbling. They really live the value of being for the people, by the people, and I’m excited to be a part of that story.”

Khan has already starred in one commercial promoting the hospital, which was also used to light up the Burj Khalifa tower last week.

Sources say it is a long-term partnership with Khan expected to star in sever more promotional videos.
