The Sharjah Department of Municipalities Affairs has achieved significant progress with its initiative to digitally map and catalogue real estate properties across the emirate, as part of the government’s “Aqari” platform led by the Sharjah Digital Authority.

The programme is designed to create a comprehensive, data-driven view of Sharjah’s property landscape to improve planning, management, and future development.

Sultan Mohammed bin Huwaiden Al Ketbi, Chairman of the Department, said the initiative represents a major step towards the emirate’s goal of advancing its real estate sector through digital transformation.

He explained: “This project is key to our ‘Aqari’ platform, where our department focuses on the engineering side. Our goal is to create a detailed digital database of real estate in Sharjah, including the size and specifications of buildings.

“This will help inform future planning decisions and demonstrates the strong collaboration among various government agencies in Sharjah.”

Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Qasimi, Director of the Department, said the initiative significantly advances the management and use of real estate information across the emirate.

He noted that the team has already mapped more than 2.8 million square metres of property, covering more than 1,300 projects and 42,000 different types of properties, including residential, commercial, industrial, and service units.

Integrating AI and automation in real estate data

Engineers are reworking and structuring building information to enable modern technologies, including artificial intelligence, to process it efficiently.

This effort supports the emirate’s broader goal of automating real estate services to improve efficiency, accuracy, and accessibility.

By enhancing data quality and consistency, the project lays the groundwork for more advanced digital services across Sharjah’s property market.
