Developers behind Reem Mall, Abu Dhabi’s new entertainment, leisure, dining and shopping destination, on Wednesday revealed that the $1 billion development will be home to the world’s largest indoor snow-play park.
The 125,000 square foot attraction is set to include a variety of activities and experiences from sledging to zorbing to luge, a statement said.
No further details about the snow-play park were revealed.
Developed by National Real Estate Company (NREC) and United Projects for Aviation Services Company (UPAC), Reem Mall is expected to open in 2018, and will include 450 stores including 85 food and beverage outlets.
The announcement comes just two months after Dubai revealed plans to build Meydan One, a new 3,671,000 square metre leisure, residential and hospitality destination which will include an indoor ski slope three times the length of Ski Dubai.
“Reem Mall is one of the most ambitious and exciting retail and leisure projects ever undertaken in Abu Dhabi, and we are thrilled to announce the news of it becoming home to the world’s largest indoor snow-play park,” said Shane Eldstrom, chief operating officer for Reem Mall.
“From the outset, Reem Mall has been designed as the ultimate family destination, and this fantastic new attraction will make it the place to meet, shop and play. We look forward to sharing more exciting details in the coming months.”
Located on Reem Island, the new mall development is positioned within the new master-developed residential and commercial zone, which, according to Abu Dhabi’s Urban Planning Council, will eventually be home to more than 210,000 people.
