Saudi Aramco has announced the launch of its new 98-octane gasoline, which will begin supplying the domestic market in January 2026, following guidance from the Ministry of Energy on local market needs.
In a statement carried by the Saudi Press Agency, the company said the introduction of the higher-octane fuel is part of its efforts to expand consumer fuel options and diversify its product portfolio, without affecting existing gasoline products currently available in the market.
During the initial phase, the 98-octane gasoline will be offered in Riyadh, Jeddah and the Dammam metropolitan area, as well as along highways connecting these cities. Saudi Aramco said these locations were selected because the majority of vehicles that require higher-octane fuel are concentrated there.
The company added that any future expansion of availability will be considered after reviewing demand levels for the new product.
Saudi Aramco confirmed that the 98-octane gasoline is specifically designed to meet the needs of sports cars and vehicles equipped with high-performance engines that require a higher-octane rating.
The company said the price of the new fuel grade will be published on its website under the retail fuel sales section at the time of its launch in the domestic market this month. Pricing will be reviewed periodically in line with the approved governance procedures for adjusting energy and water product prices.
The rollout comes as part of broader efforts to align fuel offerings with consumer demand in Saudi Arabia’s domestic market.
