Nokia is aiming to tap into the personal navigation market with the acquisition of German company gate5 AG, a supplier of navigation software and services.
“The personal navigation device market is in a rapid growth phase with the global market size expected to reach 15 million units in 2006. By integrating the maps and navigation capabilities into our devices, Nokia will participate in this growth,” said Anssi Vanjoki, executive vice president and general manager for Multimedia at Nokia.
