Saudi Arabia's Haramain High Speed Rail to resume services on Wednesday

The airport station can serve Jeddah residents and visitors, thanks to the existence of six platforms, each 518 meters long.

The management of Saudi Arabia’s 450km Haramain High Speed Rail project have revealed trains will resume running from Wednesday (December 11).

Director of operations and maintenance, Rayan Al-Harbi told Saudi Press Agency (SPA) that the railway would start trips to serve travellers between the new King Abdulaziz Airport station, King Abdullah Economic City, and other stations, following a series of successful tests.

He added that Makkah trips will resume next week.

The new King Abdulaziz Airport station, which can run a trip each ten minutes at peak time, will serve Jeddah residents and visitors until the refurbishment of the main station in Al-Sulaimaniyah District is completed, which was damaged by fire in September.

Al-Harbi said: “The airport station can serve Jeddah residents and visitors, thanks to the existence of six platforms, each 518 meters long. Hence, each platform can accommodate two dual trains with a capacity of 832 passengers for each dual trip.“This raises the station’s capacity to 20 million passengers annually. Passengers wishing to travel by train can book their trips and buy tickets via the known booking channels, including the website and booking applications.”
