Two Emirates flights from Dubai to London Heathrow were forced to redirect to different airports, according to aviation industry website Aerotime Hub.
Adverse weather conditions in the UK capital, including strong winds, forced major airlines including Dubai’s Emirates, Air India, British Airways, Lufthansa and American Airlines to reroute away from Heathrow to alternative sites.
Two Emirates flights from Dubai on Tuesday, March 13 were forced to make emergency diversions. Emirates flights EK1 and EK29 both departed from DXB before being told to find alternative landing sites.
Dubai-London Heathrow flights diverted
The Emirates EK1 flight to London Heathrow was scheduled to land on Heathrow at 11.40am local time. However, strong winds prevented the aircraft from making a safe landing.

The EK29 flight from DXB was supposed to land in London at 1.50pm local time. However, it was redirected to Birmingham International Airport after circling above London several times. Birmingham is more than 170km drive away from Heathrow.

According to Aerotime Hub, pilots on both flights were “forced to squawk 7770”, an aviation term for signalling a general emergency on flights.
Winds of up to 65mph in parts of the UK caused travel disruption to Heathrow and parts of the south of England on Monday.
Flights out of Heathrow and heading to Dubai were cancelled later in the day. Following on from the redirected EK29 flight, the corresponding EK30 flight back to Dubai was cancelled.
The EK30 was scheduled to fly from London Heathrow at 17.45pm local time and arrive in DXB at 04.35am. However, the flight was cancelled.
