Global Village announced that they will remain closed on Thursday, January 26 due to unstable weather conditions.

The announcement was made through a banner on the official website alongside a pop-up stating that the Mahmoud El Esseily concert which was initially supposed to take place on Wednesday, January 25, will now be moved to January 29.

Announcements were also made on Global Village’s official Twitter account.

On Wednesday, Dubai rain has led to the cancellation of a Mahmoud El Esseily’s concert in the city’s Global Village.

Egyptian singer Mahmoud El Esseily was due to perform at Global Village in Dubai on Wednesday, but the event has been cancelled at short notice.

In a statement shared by Global Village, the popular tourist attraction said the site would be closed and guest well-being was a priority.

It is the second time Global Village has been forced to close due to adverse weather conditions this month.

Heavy rain and unstable weather in the UAE has led to calls for motorists to be extra vigilant on the roads and even closed down schools.

Schools in Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah have announced pupils will switch to remote learning for the rest of the week to protect the safety of students and staff.

On Tuesday, the National Centre for Meteorology (NCM) warned UAE residents to stay cautious while driving as rains engulf parts of the nation.

In an advisory issued on Tuesday, the NCM warned residents to:

  • Avoid driving unless absolutely necessary. If necessary, drive with caution, and remain vigilant and alert to ensure the safety of all road users.
  • Turn on low-beam headlights when visibility is reduced.
  • Follow weather forecasts.
