First low-cost link from Saudi to India to start in April

Kingdom’s budget carrier Nas Air is to link Kerala to Riyadh with daily direct flights.

Saudi low-cost airline Nas Air has announced it will commence the first direct budget flights between Saudi Arabia and India from April 1.

Served by an Airbus A320 aircraft, the daily service will connect Riyadh to Calicut International Airport and Cochin International Airport, which are both in the Indian state of Kerala.

Further destinations in the pipeline include Thiruvananthapuram, Mumbai and New Delhi in India, with Pakistan to follow, according to a report in the Saudi Gazette.

The airline successfully undertook a number of flights from both Mumbai and Cochin to Saudi Arabia during the last Haj season.  

Nas Air, which is owned by National Air Services, has developed its share of the now-competitive low-cost air travel market to around 350 flights a week. It serves 13 destinations inside Saudi Arabia and 11 international airports throughout the Middle East.

The carrier operates a fleet of A320 and Embraer E190 aircraft.
