According to a new guidebook released by TASC Outsourcing, most UAE nationals (63.91 percent) are dissatisfied with their salary. A majority of Emiratis also revealed that they expect at least a 5-8 percent salary hike.
The Emiratisation policy has been set by the UAE government and aims to increase the representation of Emirati citizens in the country’s workforce. The policies took effect on January 1, 2023 and apply to all employers excluding freezones.
Top job roles for Emiratis in the UAE:
- IT Graduates to IT Managers: IT Emirati graduates are in high demand as the country continues to invest in technology and digitisation
- Data Engineers: As businesses in the UAE expand, professionals are required who can collect, store and process data. The growing trend of industry 4.0 and the Internet of Things (IoT) is also driving the demand for data engineers in the country
- Call centre agents/representatives: The rise in demand for customer service professionals has been observed as businesses in the UAE continue to expand, according to the report, Emiratis are particularly in demand for these roles because of their cultural understanding, education and emphasis on efficiency and productivity
- Admin Assistants and Executives: According to the report, Emiratis are particularly in demand for these roles because of their cultural understanding, education and emphasis on efficiency and productivity
- Internships – Fresh Graduates: Due to the government push for Emiratisation and the need for skilled professionals in the workforce, organisations in the UAE are actively seeking to hire and train fresh Emirati graduates to fill a wide range of roles to meet the country’s growing workforce
A majority of Emiratis in the UAE (66 percent) revealed that they aim to find a role with better purpose, followed by employees saying that they intend to stay with the same employer and setup their own business.
Job sites have emerged as the most popular way for Emiratis searching for a new job as compared to references and recruitment agencies. Aside from salary, 73.6 percent of Emiratis said that the factor that has the most influence while considering a new job is the benefits package.
The survey covered 500 respondents, making it the largest Emirati candidate survey to date. The study aimed to understand the representation of Emirati citizens in the country’s workforce.
