The UAE capital will play host to the final of a global Miss
India beauty pageant this week, marking the event’s debut in the Middle East.

Some 30 finalists will compete in Abu Dhabi before a panel
of judges to take home the coveted title of Ms India Worldwide 2011, organisers
said in a statement Sunday.

The five-day event will take place at the Emirates Palace
Hotel.

 “[The event] will be
very much in line with UAE’s inimitable style of offering only the very best,” said
John Matthew, managing director Emirates Vision Event, the organisers behind
the show.

The guest of honour at the event will be Sushmita Sen, the
first Indian to win the title of Miss Universe.

 “We envisage the
event to be heavy on star power as Bollywood stars are being lined up to judge
the event,” Matthew said.

Gulf countries will also be represented among the 30
competitors, with the UAE, Bahrain, Qatar and Oman submitting entrants.

Each entrant will receive training in grooming, diction and
elocution with the overall winner receiving a prize package, including $9,000 in
cash and a number of annual modeling contracts.

In November 2009, the UAE capital was a stopping-off point
for 110 entrants in the Miss World competition, before the final leg of the
competition in South Africa.
