Reality television star Kim Kardashian has cancelled a Dubai event and vowed to scale back her public appearances after she was robbed of $10 million worth of jewellery at gunpoint in her Paris residence.

The “Keeping Up With The Kardashians” star was scheduled to hold a makeup masterclass with her makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic in the city on October 14. Dedivanovic made the announcement on his Instagram account.

“Dear Dubai Masterclass Attendees, on behalf of myself and Kim Kardashian West, please accept our apologies. We are sorry to inform you that due to the recent events, we will be rescheduling the Dubai Masterclass with Kim Kardashian West,” his post said.

“We understand the inconvenience that this has caused you. You will have the option to cancel and receive a full refund, or we can hold the ticket for the rescheduled date. Rescheduling details will be sent out within the week. We deeply and sincerely apologise from the bottom of our hearts. We truly hope you all understand the decision we had to make and look forward to our upcoming class. We will update you via email and TheMasterClass.com,” it said.

Kardashian’s husband rapper Kanye West has also rescheduled two of his upcoming shows in the US for his ongoing Saint Pablo Tour following the incident.

A Paris police source earlier told Reuters that five attackers, wearing ski masks and clothes with police markings, struck around 3 a.m. (0100 GMT) inside the exclusive apartment block where Kardashian, 35, was staying while attending Paris Fashion Week.

E! News, whose US network broadcasts the “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” television show, on Monday quoted a source close to Kardashian as saying she feared for her life.

“She begged for them to let her live and (said) she has babies at home… She thought they were for sure going to kill her,” the unidentified source told E! News.

Kardashian, who has two young children with West, has since returned to New York “badly shaken” and has not stepped out in public since. Already, the famous family have been spotted with extra bodyguards and have maintained a rare silence on social media since the attack.
