A two-year old passenger on a Saudia flight that made an emergency landing in Canada was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at a local hospital, according to media reports.

According to Reuters, the child was on Saudi Arabia Airlines flight 35 which left Jeddah for Washington DC at 0645 on Tuesday.

Shortly before noon eastern standard time, the flight landed at St. John’s International Airport in Newfoundland.

The Reuters report quoted an officer of the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary as saying the child was declared dead at a nearby hospital.
