Saudi Arabia and Oman have agreed to step up bilateral cooperation across a range of strategic sectors, following talks between senior officials in Muscat. The discussions took place during meetings of the two countries’ foreign ministers and the third session of the Saudi-Omani Coordination Council.
According to a Saudi Gazette report, Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan held talks with his Omani counterpart Badr bin Hamad bin Hamoud Al Busaidi, during which both sides reviewed fraternal relations and explored ways to strengthen cooperation in political, economic and regional affairs.
Following bilateral talks, the two ministers co-chaired the third meeting of the Saudi-Omani Coordination Council, attended by heads of subcommittees and members of the council’s general secretariat. The meeting reaffirmed the commitment of King Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and Sultan Haitham bin Tariq to expanding cooperation and strengthening ties between the two countries.
In his address, Prince Faisal said the meeting built on the outcomes of the council’s previous session held in AlUla in December 2024, stressing the need for subcommittees to complete the implementation of remaining initiatives. He highlighted the importance of boosting trade, stimulating investment, and enhancing cooperation between the public and private sectors.
Prince Faisal also praised the signing of a memorandum to facilitate mutual recognition of rules of origin, the acceptance of certificates of origin issued by both countries, and the launch of the second phase of industrial integration initiatives. He said these steps reflect the strength of economic ties and the shared commitment to expanding trade and investment cooperation.
The Saudi minister further commended progress on establishing an electronic platform for the Coordination Council, designed to link committee initiatives and improve monitoring of joint projects. He noted advances in sectors including energy, industry, investment and trade, describing them as beneficial to both nations.
Omani Foreign Minister Al Busaidi highlighted what he described as qualitative progress in bilateral relations, citing advances toward economic integration, stronger trade flows and joint investments. He also pointed to growing cooperation in security, justice, culture and tourism, as well as continued coordination on regional and international issues.
The meeting concluded with the signing of the minutes of the third session of the Saudi-Omani Coordination Council, underscoring both countries’ intent to activate agreed initiatives and deepen integration across all fields.
