In August, the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security in the UAE announced a two-month grace period for violators of the Foreigners’ Entry and Residence Law.
The period, starting September 1, 2024, will allow offenders to rectify their status without incurring fines.
The meeting was attended by Major General Suhail Juma bin Kaltham Al Khaili, Acting Director General of the Authority, with the participation of the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Health and Community Protection, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, the Ministry of Finance and the Department of Health in Abu Dhabi.
Residency fines waived in UAE’s new amnesty scheme
The Authority declared its intention to employ advanced technology and AI to execute the decision and simplify procedures, aligning with the directive to reduce governmental red tape.
This initiative by the Authority is designed to provide offenders with a fresh chance to rectify their status within legal parameters, considering their individual circumstances.
This approach is rooted in the country’s founding principles of compassion and forbearance.
