A selection of hotels in the UAE have been ranked among the most luxurious in the world as part of a new report.

Travel booking site Expedia’s Insiders Select List, which ranks the 650 best hotels for 2012, included 13 UAE properties.

The list is generated based on 500,000 verified reviews posted on the website in 2011 about the 150,000 properties which it lists.

The UAE was the only country in the Middle East to have any hotels included – 11 of these being in Dubai, and the other two in Abu Dhabi.

Among the list were Sofitel Dubai Jumeirah Beach, which was ranked 11th globally, Atlantis The Palm and Traders Hotel, Qaryat Al Beri, Abu Dhabi.

“We are focused on pushing the boundaries and consistently making improvements to provide each guest with the greatest experience they’ll ever have. It is rewarding to see that this commitment has placed us on Expedia’s 2012 Insiders Select List,” said, Atlantis The Palm managing director, Serge Zaalof.

“We are delighted to receive this prestigious award from Expedia. This accolade is a testament that the hotel consistently delivers superior services, excellent guest experience and remarkable value,” said Arbind K Shrestha, general manager of Shangri-La and Traders Hotels, Qaryat Al Beri, Abu Dhabi.
