Drawings show Burj Dubai height

Tender documents show height at 704.9 metres

After seeing tender documents for Burj Dubai, Construction Week can exclusively reveal that the drawings show that Burj Dubai is currently set to reach a total height of 704.9 m (including the spire) when complete.

Construction Week had earlier (Issue 19) quoted tower’s foundations contractor Bauer as saying the skyscraper would be 560 m.

The developer, Emaar Properties has so far been tight-lipped on the issue of the building’s final height, so it would be no surprise if the height changes during the course of the project as has happened on a number of other record-breaking projects such as New York’s Empire State Building (381 m) and Chrysler Building (319 m).

Competition for the coveted “world’s tallest” title is notoriously tough.
