Eid Al Adha is just days away and the UAE, Saudi Arabia and countries across the GCC have announced dates for holidays.
Commonly known as the Feast of Sacrifice, this period is one of the holiest in the Islamic calendar. Special prayers, feasts and charity acts are observed.
Following moon-sightings to mark the month of Dhu Al Hijjah countries in the GCC have revealed dates for holidays to mark the occasion.

Eid Al Adha 2024 holidays in the UAE
UAE has announced paid holidays for Eid Al Adha for both the public and private sector.
The dates were officially announced on June 8 by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) and the UAE Federal Authority For Government Human Resources (FAHR).
- Arafat Day: Dhu Al Hijjah 9, corresponding to Saturday, June 15
- Eid Al Adha 2024: Dhu Al Hijjah 10 to 12, corresponding to Sunday, June 16; Monday, June 17 and Tuesday, June 18
With Saturday and Sunday being a typical weekend in the UAE it means people will enjoy a four-day holiday.

Eid Al Adha 2024 holidays in Saudi Arabia
Saudi Arabia has announced a five-day holiday for the private and non-profit sectors in the Kingdom.
The announcement by the Saudi Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (MoHRSD) followed an official statement confirming the dates of Eid Al Adha.
The Supreme Court announced that Friday, June 7 will be the first day of Dhu Al-Hijjah, according to the Umm al-Qura calendar, as the crescent moon of the month of Dhu Al-Hijjah was sighted on Thursday.
The Supreme Court said that standing at Arafat shall be on Saturday, the ninth day of Dhu al-Hijjah for this Year, 1445 AH, corresponding to June 15, 2024, and the blessed Eid Al-Adha shall be on the following day, Sunday.
Following the announcement by the Supreme Court the MoHRSD confirmed dates for private sector workers in the Kingdom.
In a social media post the MoHRSD said there will be four days of holiday from Saturday, June 15 to Tuesday, June 18.
As Friday is an official weekend day across the Kingdom, many employees will enjoy a five-day break from work from Friday to Tuesday.

Eid Al Adha 2024 holidays in Oman
Oman has announced the first day of Eid Al Adha will be Monday, June 17.
A post by state-run ONA news agency on social media said the month of Dhu Al Hijjah will begin on Saturday.
ONA said: “The first day of Dhul-Hijjah 1445 AH will be this (Saturday). Therefore, the first day of Eid Al Adhah 1445 AH will be on Monday, 17 June 2024, confirms the Moon-sighting Main Committee”.
Following directives from Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, it has been decided that the holiday for the public and private sector will start from Sunday, Dhu Al Hijja 1445 AH corresponding to June 16 2024, to Thursday, Dhu Hijja 13 1445 AH, corresponding to June 20, 2024.
Work shall be resumed on Sunday, June 23, 2024.

Eid Al Adha 2024 holidays in Bahrain
Bahrain has announced the dates for Eid Al Adha in the Kingdom.
His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, issued a circular regarding the Arafah and the Eid Al-Adha holidays.
According to the circular, the Kingdom’s ministries and public institutions will be closed on the day of Arafah, and on Eid Al-Adha, corresponding to Saturday, June 15 to Tuesday, June 18.
With Friday, June 14 being a regular weekend day off, it means people in the country will enjoy a five-day holiday.

Eid Al Adha 2024 holidays in Qatar
Qatar has announced dates for an extended Eid Al Adha holiday for the public sector this month.
An official announcement from the Amiri Diwan said ministries, government entities and public institutions would see the break start on Sunday, June 16 and end on Thursday, June 20.
Taking into account a typical Friday and Saturday weekend, it means workers will be off from Friday, June 14 for nine days before returning to work on Sunday, June 23.
Financial institutions will enjoy a shorter holiday. A statement from the national central bank said: “On the occasion of Eid Al Adha, QCB announced that the holidays for all financial institutions in the country will start on Sunday, June 16 until Tuesday, June 18.
“All financial institutions will resume their business on Wednesday, June 19”.

Eid Al Adha 2024 holidays in Kuwait
Kuwait has announced dates for Eid Al Adha holidays this month.
The Kuwaiti Cabinet on Tuesday decided to suspend work at all ministries, state bodies, and public institutions between Sunday, June 16 and Tuesday, June 18 as an official holiday nationwide marking Eid Al-Adha.
The decision was made during the Cabinet’s weekly meeting. Public servants and
employees will thus be back to work on Wednesday, June 19.
As Friday and Saturday is a weekend in the country, it means people will enjoy a five-day holiday from Friday, June 14 until Tuesday, June 18.
