UK air traffic controllers are experiencing a technical fault, according to a report by Sky News, with one airline reporting “network-wide failure.”
The report said passengers on airlines outside the UK were told that the air traffic control network is down, and their flights will be delayed.
“We are currently experiencing a technical issue and have applied traffic flow restrictions to maintain safety. Engineers are working to find and the fix the fault. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause,” NATS, the national air traffic controllers said in a statement.
“There has been a network-wide failure of UK air traffic control computer systems this morning. Although we are hopeful of being able to operate most intra-Scotland flights on the basis of local coordination and with a minimum of disruption, north-south and international flights maybe subject to delays,” Loganair said via X, formerly known as Twitter.
The airline advised passenger to check their website to stay updated on the latest flight information before setting off for the airport.
Gatwick Airport, however, said that planes there are still landing and taking off this afternoon.
