Howard Wu is a distinguished leader and subject matter expert in technology and management with experience in international markets in the Americas, the Middle East and Asia. Wu is the executive director of international investments and manufacturing at Oxagon - NEOM’s reimagined industrial city and home of advanced industries – where he oversees its industry tenants, research and innovation, and manufacturing.
In his current role, Wu is responsible for ensuring Oxagon becomes a global hub for advanced and clean manufacturing, enabled by its advanced production facilities, research and innovation, and circularity. Wu and his team are charged with attracting investment across Oxagon’s operations and managing the development of its industrial zones, which consist of an advanced green industrial ecosystem with technology and people at its core. In this capacity, he supervises the entire investor journey, ensuring a seamless customer experience from concept ideation through contract completion. Within Oxagon, he facilitates cross-team collaboration and identifies processes to streamline in order to meet various internal and external stakeholder needs.
Prior to joining Oxagon, Wu held the position of President of North America and Chief Technology and Solutions Officer for Millennium and Copthorne Hotels – a global hotel chain listed on London Stock Exchange that operates more than 120 hotels in over 80 locations worldwide. As part of his role, Wu was responsible for launching the first-ever Millennium Mobile App, introducing AliPay across the company’s U.S. Gateway hotels, and attaining the first General Data Protection Regulation certification in the U.S. hospitality sector, among several other achievements.
Wu also served in various positions during his tenure at Ericcson, including leaderships roles as Head of Product Line Cloud Hardware and Infrastructure to Vice President of Head of Software Defined Infrastructure. Wu spent time working at Joyent, a wholly owned subsidiary of Samsung, as General Manager of Canada and then President of Greater China.
Wu earned a BA in Political Science and Asian Studies from Furman University and an EMBA in Business Administration in British Columbia, Canada. He is the recipient of several global awards, including Canada’s Most Innovative Cloud Startup in 2010, Ericsson Product Team of the Year 2015, and Red DOT Design Award 2016.
