This year's Emirati Women's Day theme, 'Women, Icons of Tolerance', aims to highlight and promote the values of tolerance
UAE is celebrating Emirati Women’s Day on Wednesday with a host of events around the country to acknowledge their contribution to the country.
In order to celebrate their contribution, Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Mother of the Nation, decided in 2015 that August 28 every year will be celebrated as the Emirati Women’s Day to coincide with the birth of the General Women’s Union.
This year's theme, ‘Women, Icons of Tolerance’, aims to highlight and promote the values of tolerance, a national priority for the UAE.
Harpers Bazaar Arabia celebrated Emirati Women’s Day by tapping nine trailblazers in the region, speaking to some of the region’s most inspiring and accomplished women, who are all playing an important role in shaping the UAE landscape.
The women include Maya Al Hawary, Abeer Al Tamimi, Ahlam Bolooki, Maitha Hamad Zayed Al Eisaei, Roudha Al Marri, Abeer Alshaali, Leila Maraashi, Basma Abu Ghazaleh, and Omaira Farooq Al Olama.
