A fraudulent SMS message has been circulating in Dubai, falsely claiming to be from Emirates Post and attempting to deceive recipients into clicking on a suspicious link.

The message, originating from a Malaysian number, states that a package cannot be delivered due to an address issue and urges recipients to click on an unauthorised link to update their address and request a new delivery.

As per a screenshot seen by Arabian Business, the SMS comes from a Malaysia number (+60) and reads, “Emirates Post: Due to the loss of address, your package cannot be delivered. Please handle it promptly. You can update the address online and request a new delivery: [unauthorised link] Please send the number 1 to activate the link, update the online address, and request a new delivery again.”

Emirates Post has issued a warning regarding this scam, emphasising that fraud can take various forms, such as emails, SMS messages, WhatsApp messages, fake employees, and counterfeit websites impersonating their brand.

The notification provided information about potential fraudulent activities occurring on various platforms such as social media, SMS, WhatsApp, and E-commerce websites.

Additionally, the company stressed that legitimate email addresses only end with either @emiratespost.ae or @emiratesposthop.ae, adding any email received from an address with a different ending is likely to be a fraudulent attempt.
